The former Department of Children, Youth Justice and Multicultural Affairs acknowledges the traditional owners of the lands across Queensland. We recognise the enduring impacts of colonisation and associated intergenerational trauma, grief and loss, violence and abuse.

We commit to improving our responses to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and families experiencing vulnerability.

  • better support vulnerable Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples
  • partner more inclusively with key organisations
  • engage genuinely with communities.

The action plan contains 15 aspirational goals to help the department on its ongoing cultural capability journey.
