Queenslanders want a vibrant and prosperous state where everyone has the opportunity to lead an active lifestyle, live in a healthy and thriving community, and participate in the economy.
Our strategic direction statement, Queensland: an age-friendly community, outlines the government's approach to achieving its vision of a thriving community where the contributions of seniors are valued and older people are able to lead healthy and productive lives in work, volunteering or retirement. We work with other Queensland Government agencies to implement a range of age-friendly initiatives outlined in the strategy's Action Plan Action Plan .
Disability, Seniors and Carers leads Queensland Government initiatives focusing on the opportunities and challenges of our ageing population and older people's issues.
We invest in a range of initiatives to enhance the wellbeing and participation of older Queenslanders including:

Provides older Queenslanders with discounts on a wide range of goods, services and concessions.
A range of concessions, rebates and assistance are available to assist eligible Queenslanders with the cost of living.

Provide free legal and social support services for seniors concerned about elder abuse, mistreatment or financial exploitation.
A range of programs and activities that focus on increasing older people’s awareness of healthy lifestyle options, reducing social isolation and strengthening personal and community connectedness.
