Multicultural Action Plan
Our story, our future is the Queensland Government's multicultural policy promoting an inclusive, harmonious and united community for Queensland.
The policy focuses Queensland Government action on 3 policy priorities for culturally diverse communities and Queensland as a whole:
- achieving culturally responsive government
- supporting inclusive, harmonious and united communities
- improving economic opportunities.
By focusing on these priorities, the Queensland Government will support equality of opportunity for all Queenslanders and harness the remarkable benefits cultural diversity offers.
It is being implemented through Queensland's third multicultural action plan which spans 2022-23 to 2023-24 and builds on outcomes achieved under the first and second Multicultural Action Plans. This plan focuses on six actions to build the economy and community, provide better access to interpreters, and improve cultural diversity data to enhance service delivery. It will continue to drive Queensland Government action to support an environment of opportunity and achieve improved social and economic outcomes for people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
The policy and action plan are a requirement of the Multicultural Recognition Act 2016 and represent one of 3 key provisions of the Act, together with establishing the Multicultural Queensland Charter and Multicultural Queensland Advisory Council.
